In the right hands, 1% is a big deal.

Our values seek mutual success and our Pledge 1% leverages a portion of our success to support our communities.

We do this by offering up to 1% of our spaces, profits and our people’s time, towards community organisations and enterprises that support meaningful employment within our local communities.

The more successful we are, the more we can give.

Here's what we achieved in FY20:

60% of employees engaged in volunteering.

Our team are encouraged to give 1% of their time to support community projects.

  • Personal and team volunteering
  • Dollar matched workplace giving
  • Employee-led initiatives drive fundraising and volunteering opportunities, building engagement and deepening insight.

45,000sqm+ in Pledge 1% space, valued at $1.9m provided for community use.

We provide space for community organisations and enterprises throughout Australia.

  • Identifying and addressing local community needs
  • Activating vacant or underutilised spaces
  • Supporting new initiatives that create belonging

$933,000 donated to the community through our partnerships, including $500,000 for bushfire relief and recovery.

We partner with leading national organisations to offer a range of services, engagement programs and volunteering opportunities to our people.

  • Charter Hall support national partnerships including Foundation For Young Australians: Innovation Nation and The Young Social Pioneers program, Property Industry Foundation and Two Good Co.

Supporting bushfire affected communities

Our thoughts continue to be with all those impacted by the devastating bushfires, and those working hard to keep our communities safe and rebuild.

Like many others, we want to help.

Helping our farmers

When our famers are impacted by natural disasters, there’s a direct effect on all of us. We have an obligation to pitch in and help.

In October 2019 at Max, Matt & Maxine’s dairy farm in Singleton, and Terry & Joe’s in Dubbo, we joined Rural Aid Ltd on ‘hay drops’ where 42 farmers received a share in 202 tonnes of hay.

This was made possible by the support of shoppers in over 20 of our retail centres nationally, as together we raised $196K+ for Rural Aid.

Watch on as we visit these farmers and understand first hand the hardship they face.
